Michigan woman returned to 'Jeopardy!' as champ. Did she win again?

Wednesday’s “Jeopardy!” episode marked a quick end to Shannon Crisenberry’s run at “Jeopardy!” champion.

Crisenberry, a data annotator from St. Clair, Michigan, finished second on “Jeopardy!” on Wednesday, May 6, losing to Tristan Williams, a data scientist originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. Despite Crisenberry doubling her score with the sole correct response in Final Jeopardy, Williams’ safe bet guaranteed his win.

Williams ended with $20,000, losing just $400 on the final prompt, while Crisenberry totaled $14,800 and Lauren Black was in the red at minus $800 after Double Jeopardy.

Black, a sales assistant from San Jose, California, did not participate in Final Jeopardy.

Crisenberry is the third Michigan player to appear on the show recently, following Grosse Pointe native and 31-game winner Jamie Ding, and Harsha Hebbale, a crash safety engineer, from Troy.

Here’s what to know about the Michigan “Jeopardy!” contestant.

Did Shannon Crisenberry win on ‘Jeopardy!’?

No, Crisenberry lost on the May 6 “Jeopardy!” episode, finishing in second and ending her one-day reign at champ.

Heading into Final Jeopardy, Crisenberry had $7,400, while Williams had $20,400 and Black was in negative territory at minus $800.

Black’s negative score prevented her from participating in Final Jeopardy, leaving it a battle between Williams and Crisenberry.

Crisenberry was the sole contestant to correctly respond, “What is Crimea?”, to the Final Jeopardy prompt, “About 10,000 sq. miles, this region was the subject of a 19th c. war, declared independence in 1917, reorganized in 1921 & is under dispute to this day,” her score kept her resigned to second place.

Crisenberry earned $7,400 in Final Jeopardy, doubling her score to $14,800. While Williams failed to provide an answer on Final Jeopardy, he wagered only $400, securing his win at $20,000.
