Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found last weekend at Farmington Hills city park, officials said.
“Farmington Hills Police are continuing to investigate after a body was discovered in Woodland Hills Park yesterday,” Vickie Sullen-Winn, a city spokeswoman, said Monday. “Authorities emphasize that there is no current threat to public safety, and the park has been cleared. More information will be shared as the investigation develops.”
Police said they are investigating the death as a homicide.
Officers were called at about 4 p.m. Sunday to the park, which is located at Farmington Road and Interstate 696, for a report of a dead male found on a trail, according to authorities. City officials describe the property as a 74-acre nature park that features a walking trail.
Police arrived and spoke to the caller. Officers also summoned detectives and evidence technicians to investigate.
Investigators said the man found is a 64-year-old Farmington Hills resident. They are withholding his name, pending the notification of his family.
Anyone with information about the incident or who visited the park between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday should call the Farmington Hills Police Department Command Desk at (248) 871-2610.
The finding was reported a day after a 50-year-old Midland man was found dead in the Tittabawassee River.
Two weeks ago, the body of a missing Northern Michigan University student was found in Lake Superior months after he disappeared.
Also in April, the body of a Muskegon-area man was found after his vehicle became disabled and he went missing.
