MONROE – Bedford spread the wealth.
Seven different athletes won individual events during an 85-52 track and field victory over Monroe on Tuesday, April 28.
Bryce McCloud won the 100 and 200 meters. He was the only double winner for the Mules.
Other triumphs came from Brandon McCloud (400), Logan Thomas (800), Maddi Duke (1,600), AJ Varner (highs hurdles), Alex Mapes (low hurdles) and Maysn Moran (shot-put).
Zamir Austin was a double winner for Monroe, hitting personal bests in the high jump (6-4) and long jump (20-3).
Most of Monroe’s points came in the field events with Nolan Cacioppo winning the discus and Marqius Wilkerson the pole vault with a personal-best 12-0.
Gavin Rohr ruled the 3,200 meters for the Trojans.
Bedford’s girls took a different path to its 103-30 win.
Rachel Burley (100, 200), Iva Ravindra (400. 3,200) and Cheyenne Ivy (hurdles) all were double winners.
Also winning for Bedford were Sophia Johnson (800), Grace Fredericks (1,600), Helen Brady (shot-put), Arianna Ali (pole vault) and Tayah Croley (long jump).
The Mules also swept the relays with Burley, Croley, Ivey, Sophya Cole, Kennedy Varner, Maliah McKibben, Sophia York, Gianna Hill, Miranda Fulop, Aubrey Miscikowski and Kayloni Nunez running legs.
Monroe won the discus with Coryssa McCray and the high jump with Corinna Aulph.
TUESDAY’S TOP PERFORMERS
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Brielle White, Briar Wing, Sierra DeBarr and Braelynn Chiotti, Whiteford: Broke the school record in the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:17.6 during wins over Sand Creek 84-50, Morenci 88-42 and Britton Deerfield 91-30. The 4-2 Bobcats swept the relays and got individual victories from White (200), DeBarr (400), Chiotti (800), Wing (1,600), Blair Lake (3,200) and Nina Bauman (discus).
Elliah Byrd, Jefferson: Was a double winner in the high jump and 100 meters during a 77-49 loss to Riverview. Kinsley Wilburn (long jump), Ana Owsiany Ordonez (discus) and Claire Miller (3,200) also won events.
Abby Raymond, Summerfield: Posted two hurdle wins and ran on the winning 1,600 relay in wins over Erie Mason 85-51 and Lewawee Chrisitan 111-14. “Very proud of the girls for stepping up,” Summerfield coach Dave Raymond said. “It was a meet that we got contributions from lots of different kids.” Alyson Ost was the champion in the 800 and 1,600 meters. Makenna Shipe (discus), Elena Miller (shot-put) and Abby Zilka (high jump) also won. Mason, which routed Lenawee Christian 117-13, was led by Giuliana Nastale with victories in the 100, 200 and 400. Jaelynn Horton (3,200) and Paige Konrad (long jump) won events.
Reagan Higdon, Flat Rock: Ruled the 100 and 200 meters during an 89-38 loss to New Boston Huron. Breanna Sexton took first in the shot-put for the 1-3 Rams.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Ryan Thomas, Whiteford: Took first in both hurdle events and the high jump to lead the Bobcats past Sand Creek 106.67-30.33, Morenci 99-36 and Britton Deerfield 101-35. Saylor (200, 400) and Grant Rasor (800, 1,600) were double winners and Brek Ruddy ruled the pole vault and 5-1 Whiteford swept the relays.
Anthony Tamahkyarov and Mason Stoneburner, Airport: Both won an event and ran on two winning relays during a 68-59 loss to Grosse Ile. Stoneburner won the 100 and Anthony Tamahkyarov topped the 200. Both helped the 400 and 800 relays win. Holden Otter (shot-put), Jaxson Nichols (discus) and Hayden Bovair (800) also won.
Josh Hargraeves, Jefferson: Captured wins on the long jump and 400 meters during an 86-42 victory over Riverview. The Bears ruled three of the four relays and Maddex Shotwell (high jump), Mason Tulik (1,600), Carter Lee (3,200) and Orion Galloway (800) took individual wins. “We had a few last-minute switch ups with our lineup,” Jefferson coach Josh Ludwick said. “I guess we pulled the right levers.”
Christian Craanen, SMCC: Took titles in the 800 and 3,200 to spark a 66-62 win over Milan. Also winning for the Falcons were Gavin Swartout (100), Brady Reinhardt (200), Max Foldvary (1,600) and Vince Harris (shot-put). Braeden Lerette had a big day for Milan with wins in both hurdle races and the long jump. Milan’s other winners were Landon Talladay (400), Tanner Lambers (high jump) and Vincent Bodziak (discus).
Lincoln Murbach, Erie Mason: Ruled both hurdle races and ran on two winning relays as the Eagles rolled over Summerfield 104-33 and Lenawee Christian 129-3. Armani Harris took first in the 100 and 200 and was a member of a winning relay. Logan Doom doubled in the 800 and high jump. Other winners were Joseph Colaluca (400), Caleb Healey (1,600), Weston Albright (3,200) and Jackson Carner (long jump). Summerfield’s JT Lemert swept the throws and Austin Taylor took the pole vault at 14-0.
Mathias Sanchez and Braylen Hoover, Flat Rock: Sanchez swept the throws and Hoover won both hurdle races during a 75-54 loss to New Boston. Jacob Stanislawski took first in the 1,600.
GIRLS SOCCER
Lindsey Kleinow, Briley Lechner, Carmen Flatt, Monroe: Produced goals in a 3-1 win over Bedford. Josslyn jones and Briley Lechner had assists and Jazlyn Snavly, Ally Marcero, Cailyn Gregg, Szasha Rose led the defense in front of goalkeeper Lola Cacioppo. “The girls were connecting passes and defending very well,” Monroe coach Scot Chaffin said. “This was a complete team effort.”
