Monroe County Region high school sports roundup for Monday April 27

The sophomore was told that if the lead-off hitter got on base, she would be called upon to bunt.

“She said, ‘But coach, I’m seeing beach balls right now,’” Belisle said. “I said, ‘Swing away kid.’”

The first batter didn’t get on base, but Kuzara did indeed swing away.

Kuzara tripled and scored on a hit by Addison Ramsby to give Huron a 4-3 victory on Monday, April 27.

“This should give them the confidence we have been looking for,” Belisle sai. “They found their passion and energy.”

Ramsby wasted no time delivering the winning hit, picking on the first pitch she saw.

She and Kuzara finished with two hits each and Kuzara earned the pitching win.

The Flat Rock hitter who gave her the most trouble was Sarah Giroux, who went 2-for-3 with a home run.

Huron improved to 2-3.

“I am so proud of how the kids responded today,” Belisle said. “We came off a really poor performance vs Milan. … We cleaned some things up at practice, focused on simplifying the game, and executing routine plays. I think they came together and did the simple things much better today.”
