A former Michigan State basketball player is back in the transfer portal.
After one season at his new school, former Spartans guard Gehrig Normand is back in the transfer portal. Antonio Curro of NY2LA Entertainment posted about the portal entry by Normand on Monday, which was the final day players could enter.
Normand spent this past season with Santa Clara, which reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 30 years. However, Normand never suited up with Santa Clara due to an injury suffered in the preseason.
Prior to transferring to Santa Clara, Normand played two seasons at Michigan State. He redshirted his freshman year with an injury and appeared in 13 games in 2024-25. That season he averaged 0.6 points and two minutes per game.
Normand will seek to get his career back on track at his third school in three years. He was a four-star prospect out of high school but has dealt with injuries throughout his career at both Michigan State and Santa Clara. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and finally start to shine with his new school.
