Michigan State has not landed a center via the transfer portal this offseason. With the portal closing for player entry on Monday, the Spartans now know all of the players available.
Michigan State is communicating with a few of the top remaing targets, but one last-minute entry could change its board.
Vincent Iwuchukwu, a 7-foot-1, 260-pound center, hit the market on Monday afternoon. He was a solid college basketball player for Georgetown in the Big East. Iwuchukwu has a similar skill set to Carson Cooper that suggests he would be a perfect fit on the Michigan State roster.
This past year with the Hoyas, he averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds on 55% shooting in just over seven shots per game. He spent time with St. John’s and USC prior to joining the Hoyas in 2025-26. After four years of college basketball, he would need a waiver to get a fifth year of college basketball. However, that is believed obtainable because of a medical incident that affected his freshman season with the Trojans.
With Michigan State needing a starting caliber center, Iwuchukwu would provide the necessary experience that could raise the Spartans ceiling. His should be a name the Spartans put near the top of their big board.
