Man last seen April 16 found dead near Muskegon, police say

A man who had told family members that he was experiencing a medical issue on April 16 after his vehicle broke down was found dead in a rural area northeast of Muskegon on Sunday, April 19, the Michigan State Police said.

The 54-year-old man’s body was located by a Michigan State Police aviation drone operator on Sunday, the MSP Sixth District said in a post on X. Police do not suspect foul play, but the investigation is ongoing.

No further information will be released at this time, police said.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Grand Rapids Post were dispatched after the 54-year-old Muskegon man was reported missing earlier Sunday. Michigan State Police resources, including aviation and K-9 units, were deployed to assist in the search.

The man was last seen on April 16 in the area of Brunswick and Brickyard roads, west of Brunswick, after his vehicle became disabled, police said. He contacted family members to advise them of his location and reported experiencing difficulty breathing.

He then stopped responding to calls and text messages, police said.

Personal belongings, including his shoes, were later located along the side of Brickyard Road, but police were not notified of the situation until Sunday.
