The district assignments for boys basketball in Michigan have been finalized. There will be plenty of local action with host schools in the area, unfortunately that means not every local school will be able to win a district championship.
But that’s how the MHSAA tournament is set up with many of our local schools being around the same size when it comes to enrollment. Below are the boy’s hoops district hosts with games scheduled for our area squads.
DISTRICT 10 at Sturgis (Division 1)
Sturgis High School will be hosting the Division 1 district tournament next week.
The host Trojans (8-12, 0.484 MPR) will take on Battle Creek Lakeview (5-16, 0.452) in the opening round of the tournament. That game will be played on Monday at 7 p.m. In the other opener, Coldwater (11-10, 0.515) will be hosting Gull Lake (4-17, 0.454) at the same time.
Kalamazoo Loy Norrix (14-6, 0.601) finished as the top overall seed in the tournament. The Knights will play the winner of Sturgis-Lakeview at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Sturgis. In the other semifinals, second-seeded Battle Creek Central (8-10, 0.543) will play the winner of Coldwater-Gull Lake.
The finals will be played on Friday at 7 p.m. in Sturgis.
DISTRICT 48 at Vicksburg (Division 2)
Vicksburg High School will play host to the District 48 tournament next week.
Three Rivers (3-17, 0.386) will be playing on opening night. The Wildcats are set to take on Otsego (7-11, 0.478) in the district-opener at 7 p.m. inside Vicksburg high School.
Vicksburg (10-11, 0.521) will play Parchment (14-6, 0.513) in the second semifinal. The first, on Wednesday, will feature Paw Paw, which was the top overall seed with an MPR of 0.609, in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m.
The finals are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
DISTRICT 80 at Centreville (Division 3)
Four local schools will be playing in the District 80 tournament hosted by Centreville.
Constantine (1-18, 0.355) will take on White Pigeon (8-12, 0.450) in the district-opener on Monday. The game is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. at Centreville High School and will be the only game played that day.
Bronson (9-12), which finished as the top overall seed for the district with an MPR of 0.491, will take on the winner of Constantine-White Pigeon on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Centreville. The second game will feature the host Bulldogs (9-10, 0.490) playing Union City (6-15, 0.464), it’s scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
The finals will be played on Friday at 7 p.m. in Centreville.
DISTRICT 115 at Mendon (Division 4)
Plenty of local schools will be playing in the District 115 tournament held at Mendon next week.
Athens (6-13, 0.462) will face off with Howardsville Christian (9-12, 0.419) in the first semifinal. That game is scheduled for Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. Following that will be Burr Oak (13-7, 0.541) taking on Marcellus (0-19, 0.392).
Mendon finished as the top overall seed in the district (20-1, 0.593). The Hornets will play the winner of Athens and Howardsville Christian in the first semifinal on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Colon was the second overall seed in the district (17-4, 0.565). The Magi are scheduled to play the winner of Burr Oak and Marcellus on Wednesday evening with a 7 p.m. tip-off time.
The finals will take place on Friday in Mendon with a 7 p.m. start time.
