Purdue student's death at Horticulture Park ruled suicide

LAFAYETTE, IN — The 21-year-old woman whose body was found Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Horticulture Park on the university’s western edge of campus died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said in a news release.

Police and the coroner were called to the park in the early afternoon after her body was discovered.

She was from Fox Point, Wisconsin, according to the news release. The city is a suburb of Milwaukee.

A forensic autopsy was performed Friday, Dec. 12. Preliminary results indicated the manner of death was suicide.
