Late in Wednesday’s loss to the Houston Rockets, Steph Curry appeared to suffer an injury. Curry collided with Rockets wing Amen Thompson, that was later ruled a blocking foul on the Golden State Warriors guard after review. Curry appeared to be laboring on the court before exiting the game with 35 seconds on the clock in Golden State’s 104-100 loss to Houston.
Following the game, the Warriors announced Curry suffered a right quad contusion and would undergo an MRI. On Thursday morning, Shams Charania of ESPN reported on an update on Curry’s injury. According to Charania and Anthony Slater of ESPN, the Warriors anticipate Curry will miss “around a week or a little more” with his quad contusion. Charania included that Curry is believed to have avoided a serious injury with his quad. The 11-time All-Star’s return to the court will depend on how his quad responds to treatment, per ESPN.

Curry struggled against the Rockets, finishing the game with 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Curry committed a game-high seven turnovers against the Rockets.
Over the next week, the Warriors will play three games, including Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans, Tuesday against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder and Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Warriors begin a four-game road swing on Thursday in Philadelphia.
With Curry sidelined, the Warriors will likely lean on Brandin Podziemski, Pat Spencer, Buddy Hield, Gary Payton II and rookie Will Richard in the backcourt.
