The Drake women’s basketball team fell to 1-5 on the season with Wednesday’s 90-69 loss to Northern Kentucky.
The Bulldogs have now lost five straight games after winning the season opener against Eastern Illinois. Drake went 0-2 in the Music City Classic, falling to Arkansas on Tuesday and wrapping up its tournament with the loss to the Norse on Wednesday.
Maggie Taylor led the way for Drake, posting 15 points and six rebounds in the defeat. Ava Hawthorne posted 14 points, Abbie Aalsma added 11 and Brooklin Dailey added 10.
Drake was competitive in the first frame and was down just 23-20 heading into the second quarter, but that was when the wheels came off. Northern Kentucky outscored the Bulldogs 23-6 in the second to take a 46-26 lead into halftime and cruised for the rest of the way. Overall, Drake led for just 39 seconds of game time.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 3, when they welcome Lindenwood to the Knapp Center for an 11 a.m. contest.
