Raising Cane’s is expanding, with 14 new restaurants planned to open in December, including two in Florida.
The company said in a statement to USA TODAY that the openings are part of Raising Cane’s expansion of its national footprint.
The company’s goal is to run more than 1,600 restaurants nationwide and to “solidify its place among the Top 10 U.S. Restaurant Brands by the end of the decade.”

14 Raising Cane’s locations opening in December
There are already 26 Florida Raising Cane’s locations. Along with the two Orlando, Florida, locations, Raising Cane’s will open 14 restaurants in December:
Jacksonville welcomed Raising Cane’s earlier this year
Raising Cane’s opened its first Northeast Florida restaurant in July at Oakleaf Station on Merchants Way in Jacksonville.
About 400 people stood in line to be among the first to get a taste of the restaurant’s signature chicken fingers.
The restaurant was the first of several planned in the greater Jacksonville area.

According to data company ScrapeHero, there were 915 Raising Cane’s restaurants in the U.S. as of Oct. 21, with 26 in Florida. States with the most locations are:

The first Raising Cane opened Aug. 28, 1996, in an old building at the North Gates of Louisiana State University. It’s headquarters are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Founder and CEO Todd Graves “originally planned to call the restaurant ‘Sockeye’s’ as a tribute to his time in Alaska” saving money to open his first location.
“Instead, he takes a friend’s advice and names it after his Labrador retriever, Raising Cane, who frequented the construction site” of the first restaurant in Louisiana.
