A two-year-old Westchester coffee shop is closing.
Likha Art Cafe, which opened in July 2023 in Hawthorne, will close Dec. 3. The announcement was made on the shop’s Instagram page saying how hard the decision was and how the little cafe has been more than a business; it’s been “a home where art, community and story intertwine.”
The art-oriented spot was also a place where Filipino culture shined with dance parties, local displays and pastries such as Ube flan cake and pan de cocoa.
The Instagram post encouraged folks to “come for one more cup” before closing and share “one more story, one more moment inside this space that has held so much of our heart.” 363 Elwood Ave., 315-936-3324.
This is the second Westchester coffee shop to close this year: Pelham’s Caffè Ammi Roasting Co., in business since 2017, closed its cafe July 28 and shifted its focus toward wholesale. The company, as announced on Instagram Aug. 7, was acquired by Compass Group USA, a North Carolina-based food service conglomerate that provides foodservice operations to a host of venues including colleges, hospitals, airport lounges, school cafeterias and more.
