Amazon plans to invest an additional $15 billion in northern Indiana to build data center campuses, creating 1,100 jobs and supporting thousands more throughout the data center supply chain and in local businesses, the company announced Monday, Nov. 24.
As part of this expansion, Amazon worked with NIPSCO to establish a “first-of-its-kind energy framework that will bring substantial benefits to existing customers and strengthen Indiana’s electric grid,” according to the company.
It wasn’t clear Monday afternoon exactly where the new project is planned, but it is new and separate from the $11 billion investment near New Carlisle, west of South Bend, which is served by American Electric Power.
