2026 four-star RB de-commits from Texas A&M, flips to Oklahoma

One of Texas A&M’s top running back commits from the 2026 recruiting cycle has reportedly flipped his commitment on Monday, according to On3 Sports and Rivals national recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett.

Cibolo, Texas, native Johnathan Hatton Jr. informed Fawcett that he has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners again, after first committing to the Aggies in March. His first pledge was to the Sooners before he announced his commitment to Texas A&M, but Hatton has now flipped again. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder is one of the most highly touted athletes at the position in the class and has rushed for over 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns during his senior campaign at Steele High School.

Here is Hatton’s official announcement from Fawcett and Rivals on Monday, as the four-star running back sets his eyes back on Norman:

While Hatton’s de-commitment is not the greatest news on the recruiting trail, Texas A&M still has a top-10 class for next year’s cycle, due in large part to the outstanding job of the Aggies’ coaching staff, including second-year head coach Mike Elko. Many top-rated players, including Hatton, have expressed their positive thoughts on the direction Elko is leading the Aggies in. Fellow running back KJ Edwards, who is also thrashing the opposition during his senior campaign, has openly talked about how Texas A&M’s staff and their belief in the players led to his commitment.

Hatton is a massive, speedy back who has dominated throughout the state of Texas during his time playing high school football and will undoubtedly find success wherever he lands, which marks a hit on the Maroon and White’s list of recruits expected to arrive on campus and play at Kyle Field in 2026. This result equates to more importance of landing guys like Edwards, who will be integral in the continuous building of the Aggie running back room.

With the Aggies playing on a historic level in 2025, the program’s success will likely attract many more recruits to come play in College Station next season.
