Football season has come to a close for teams from District 2-5A Division II, and the league’s end-of-year awards have been revealed.
After winning its first outright district title in more than 20 years, Palo Duro had multiple players honored on All-District teams and selected for superlatives.
Junior quarterback and defensive back Julian Reese II was unanimously named District 2-5A Division II MVP after leading the Dons to a 10-2 overall record and a 6-0 mark in district play.
PD teammate and North Carolina commit Darien Lewis received the league’s Offensive Player of the Year honor while Abilene Cooper senior Dycin Davis earned Defensive Player of the Year.
Palo Duro junior Kyron Brown was unanimously named Special Teams Player of the Year and Eric Mims Sr., along with the Dons’ coaching staff, earned unanimous Coach of the Year recognition.
Dons’ junior Zach Linton and Abilene Cooper senior Isaac Massouema shared the league’s Defensive Newcomer of the Year award, while Lubbock-Cooper sophomore Noah Clark was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
