Iowa State women's basketball ranked in latest Associated Press poll

AMES – The Iowa State women’s basketball team beat its first in-state rival of the season and dominated another easy non-conference foe last week.

The wins over Drake and Mercyhurst moved the Cyclones into the Top 10 of the latest Associated Press poll with Iowa State checking in at No. 10 on Nov. 24.

Iowa State was previously ranked No. 12. But that was before the Cyclones picked up the two wins and improved to 7-0 on the season.

The 7-0 start for Iowa State is the first for the team since it rattled off seven straight victories to begin the 2021-22 season. That squad went to the Sweet 16.

Keeping the winning streak won’t be easy for the Cyclones, who play in the Coconut Hoops event in Fort Myers, Fla., this week. They’ll face Marquette on Nov. 28 and either Indiana or Gonzaga two days later.

Iowa State is ranked No. 15 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll. That poll is updated on Nov. 25.
