The rematch between Texas Tech football and BYU for the Big 12 Conference championship game is not set in stone just yet, though the odds of it have increased.
The Big 12’s Week 13 slate went almost entirely chalk (save for TCU winning at Houston) meaning nobody was able to secure their spot in AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Dec. 6. The conference released an updated version of the league’s tiebreakers to help simplify what to look for in the final week of the regular season.

It’s pretty simple for the Red Raiders, who essentially have two paths to the title game.
The first is Arizona (8-3, 5-3) going into Tempe and knocking off Arizona State (8-3, 6-2) on Friday night. A Wildcat victory would not only clinch Texas Tech’s berth into the title game but also ensure the rematch with BYU.
Aside from that, the Red Raiders (10-1, 7-1) must get the victory on the road at West Virginia (4-7, 2-6). That game begins at 11 a.m. Central on Saturday.
How does BYU football clinch a spot in the Big 12 championship game?
As mentioned above, BYU can also secure a spot in Arlington with Arizona beating Arizona State. The Cougars (10-1, 7-1) are playing host to UCF (5-6, 2-6) on Saturday. The game starts at noon.
There is another path for BYU to get there, though it involves many dominoes. Should BYU lose to UCF, it would also need Texas Tech to lose to West Virginia and have Arizona State and Utah win their games.
