For the second time in three years, Webster Schroeder girls volleyball is the state champion.
The Warriors defeated Garden City-VIII in four sets (25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18) in the NYSPHSAA Class AA championship.
The result was a reversal of Saturday’s semifinal pool play, when Schroeder’s lone defeat in three matches was against Garden City.
Here is the how the match unfolded:

Eighth-grader Ali Burton starts the opening with with the serve. The Class AA final is underway.
Webster Schroeder 0, Garden City 0: First set
Schroeder started with a 7-2 run, but the Trojans have rallied to tie the first game at 12 points apiece.
Webster Schroeder 1, Garden City 0: End of first set
Trojans put a serve into the net on match point. Schroeder boosted by a 10-point run, after the set was tied 12-12.
Webster Schroeder 1, Garden City 0: Second set
Trojans string together six consecutive points to take their first lead of the match, 8-6 in the second set.
Webster Schroeder 1, Garden City 0: Second set
Schroeder threatening to take the first two sets of the match, now ahead 14-10 after consecutive blocks from Kenyatta Hart and Sloane Bell earn a point and prompt a timeout for Garden City.
Webster Schroeder 2, Garden City 0: End of second set
Schroeder seizes total control with a 25-20 win in the second set. Adrianna Fitzharris posts a kill for the 24th point, and Kenyatta Hart puts one over for the match point.
Webster Schroeder 2, Garden City 0: Third set
Garden City not going away quietly. The Trojans have a 12-9 lead after a serve rolls over the top of the net.
Webster Schroeder 2, Garden City 1: End of third set
Trojans avoid a sweep. Schroeder was behind 22-12 in the set, but clawed back into it thanks to a series of nice serves from Chloe Iannoti. Kate Scuderi’s swing secures the final point for Garden City, to win the frame 25-18.
Unofficial stats so far: Sloane Bell and Kenyatta Hart with nine kills apiece, while Maddie Siphakongviseth has 13 digs and four aces.
Webster Schroeder 2, Garden City 1: Fourth set
Warriors started the fourth set down 5-1 before coach Scott Majka took a timeout. A 9-3 run followed, as Schroeder has taken the lead.

Schroeder now leads the fourth set 17-10, and Chloe Iannoti is back serving. Warriors inching closer to the state championship.
Webster Schroeder 3, Garden City 1: Final
Schroeder closes out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set. Adrianna Fitzharris’ kill for the final point is the dagger. Maddie Siphakongviseth named the player of the game with her 18-dig performance. This is the Warriors’ second state title in three years.
