Police arrest suspect in Shelby Township double-homicide case

Shelby Township police have a suspect under arrest in connection with a Friday, Nov. 7 double-homicide case, according to department news releases.

The department was dispatched at 12:28 p.m. Friday to Star Auto Sales located at 47092 Ryan Road for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers found two deceased males inside the business. One was a 48-year-old resident of Clinton Township. The other was a 40-year-old resident of Shelby Township.

At 5:45 a.m. Saturday Nov. 8, the Shelby Township Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit, with assistance from the Sterling Heights Police Department’s Special Response Team, conducted a search warrant in connection to the case at a hotel in Romulus near Detroit Metro Airport.

A suspect in the double homicide was placed under arrest and evidence was recovered from the hotel room, according to a news release.

The suspect had not yet been arraigned as of 10 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

The department will hold a press conference on the case at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Shelby Township Police Department located at 52530 Van Dyke in Shelby Township.
