ALGANSEE TWP., MI. — A Pansophia Academy bus ran off the road around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, with only minor injuries to the driver and four students, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a release, the school bus driver was eastbound on Central Road near Bennett Road when they moved closer to the edge to allow room for oncoming traffic. The bus then drove off the roadway into a ditch and collided with a guardrail.
The Quincy Fire Department responded with LifeCare. EMS evaluated and treated the five on scene, with no one transported.
Quincy Police Department, Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, and the Branch County Road Commission assisted at the crash scene.
The sheriff’s department said the incident remains under investigation.
The Wednesday crash is the second involving a Pansophia Bus in six days.
On Oct. 16, a Coldwater woman was traveling eastbound on E. Garfield Road in a Volvo, which struck a Ford F-250, causing it to spin out of control and impact a Pansophia Academy School bus.
The Quincy man driving the truck made a left-hand turn in front of the Volvo, according to the sheriff’s department.
LifeCare transported the three occupants of the Volvo to the Insight Hospital Emergency Department.
The parents of one of the 16 students on the bus took the student to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No one else was injured.
