The Indiana high school football regular season has reached Week 6. Class 6A No. 1 Brownsburg travels to Class 6A No. 5 Westfield in a rematch of the state title game last season, with the winner taking the advantage in the Hoosiers Crossroads Conference. Decatur Central has quarterback Bo Polson back healthy and hosts No. 3 Plainfield but those aren’t the only games we’re watching.

Decatur Central 37, Plainfield 19, F (more here)
It might seem unfair for Decatur Central to add another speedy offensive weapon to its already dangerous arsenal.
Enter Braylon Morris. The speedy Morris ran for 97 yards and two TDs on 10 carries as Decatur Central knocked off Class 5A No. 3 Plainfield 37-19 on homecoming Friday night.
The Decatur Central senior, mostly a defensive player for last year’s Class 5A state champions, jumped into the quarterback role when Bo Polston went down with a shoulder injury at the end of the Hawks’ season-opening loss to Avon. And even when Polston returned last week, Morris stayed in the QB rotation with Polston.
“He’s come in and been nothing short of spectacular,” Polston said of Morris.
Here is how Decatur Central’s victory happened:
Turning point: Plainfield (5-1 overall, 3-1 Mid-State Conference) led 13-8 in the second quarter and still trailed just 16-13 against the 6A Hawks midway through the third quarter. But the Quakers sputtered on their first two drives of the second half, allowing Decatur Central to flip the field position. Decatur Central drove 47 yards, finishing on a 5-yard touchdown run by Morris to take a 23-13 lead with 3:08 left in the third quarter. It was never a one-score game after that TD run.
Player of the game: Morris. The Hawks typically spread the ball around and did again on Friday. Kasmir Hicks ran 10 times for 47 yards and a TD and caught a nice 37-yard TD pass from Polston in the fourth quarter. The Hawks finished with 278 yards on the ground overall. But it was Morris that was able to light a fire when Decatur Central needed it.
Play of the game: The-fourth quarter TD pass from Polston to Hicks was a nice one. Plainfield also had an impressive first-quarter touchdown when Bryce Sebanc hit Zander Nattam up the seam for a 68-yard touchdown pass. Eiter of those would work.

Brownsburg at Westfield (more here)
Brownsburg 14, Westfield 10, F (more here)
Brownsburg overcame a first-half deficit, making key defensive stops after halftime to earn a 14-10 over Westfield.
Turning Point: On fourth-and-short, deep in Brownsburg territory, Bulldogs linebacker Alex Fisher sniffed out an inside run and stopped Westfield quarterback Aiden Grabowski short of the first-down line, giving Brownsburg the ball back with 4 minutes, 32 seconds left in the game. Brownsburg ran out the remainder of the clock, sealing the victory
Play of the Game: A receiver going in motion from left to right caught the eyes of the entire Brownsurg defense, allowing Caiden Snow to slip up the seam. Cooper Melvin threw a perfect pass to Snow, and the freshman raced past the Bulldogs defense, going 63 yards for the touchdown.
Player of the Game: The Brownsburg offensive line. Brownsburg didn’t have many explosive plays, but the Bulldogs’ ability to consistently get four to five yards on the ground play after play kept them in the game. Brownsburg controlled the line of scrimmage, allowing the visitors to remain calm and run its offense even when trailing in the third quarter.
Indian Creek at Tri-West (more here)
Tri-West 31, Indian Creek 24 (more here)
LIZTON – Class 3A No. 8 host Tri-West held on for a 31-24 Hoosier Legends Conference and homecoming win Friday over No. 10 Indian Creek. Sophomore quarterback Evan Clark — who had 326 yards passing — led the Braves on a potential game-tying drive inside the final minute, but his fourth-down pass in the end zone fell incomplete.
Tri-West (5-1) improves to 2-1 in the conference, while Indian Creek (4-2) falls to 1-1.
Here are three takeaways from the game:
Turning Point: On a night when they struggled to run the football, the Bruins got some big runs on the ground late when they needed them. Junior running back Wanson Hall’s 35-yard run set up a two-yard touchdown plunge by fullback Nick Bearman early in the fourth, who got an assist on a push from quarterback Jack Sorgi. The score gave the Bruins a 31-21 lead, which would prove too much for Indian Creek to overcome.
Play of the Game: Clark, who started every game last year as a freshman throwing for 20 touchdowns, made an eye-popping play late in the first half. Following a timeout on third-and-7 with 29 seconds left, Clark scrambled to the left, stepped up into the pocket and threw across his body to the right, finding running back Drew Pingleton wide open out of the backfield. Pingleton strode in for the score to help Indian Creek to a 14-10 halftime lead. It was the Braves’ second touchdown following a third-down timeout.
Top Performers: Tri-West got solid performances from its quarterback and top receiver, with Sorgi finishing with 202 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns, including a 55-yard catch-and-run by Quentin Alexander. Carter Cummings led the Bruins with seven catches for 97 yards. However, Clark and Indian Creek receiver Jaxon Ramey lit up the Tri-West defense. The 6-2, 210-pound Clark had touchdown throws of 22, 17 and 7 yards to go with six more throws of 20 yards or more. Ramey had seven catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns.

Lebanon 21, Triton Central 14 (more here)
On a night when a handful of athletes could have been the hero, Lebanon’s Tannon Monden seized his chance.
With the Class 4A No. 14 Tigers locked in a 14-14 tie in the fourth quarter against 2A No. 4 Triton Central, Monden broke the game’s second deadlock in just over 10 seconds.
His heroics proved decisive, as the Tigers (5-1) survived to win 21-14.
Initially, Monden snapped a scoreless halftime tie with a 9-yard touchdown reception to put Lebanon up 7-0 in the third quarter. Later, he ran back a 95-yard kickoff return for the go-ahead touchdown with 8 minutes, 13 seconds remaining.
“We were all saying on the headsets how poorly our special teams have played, and then boom, he nails one like that, and it changes the whole game,” Lebanon coach Josh Yoder said.
Monden’s kick-return touchdown applied the pressure on Triton Central (5-1), which lost junior starting quarterback Matthew Wilkins to a shoulder injury just before halftime.
