Michigan's Sherrone Moore updates injuries to Rod Moore, Giovanni El-Hadi, Marlin Klein

Michigan football entered the Week 2 contest at Oklahoma quite banged up and it left even more so. With several key players missing, the Wolverines also lost team captain and starting left guard Giovanni El-Hadi and starting cornerback Zeke Berry in the midst of the game, while also being depleted entering the contest with tight end Marlin Klein unable to play, fellow TE Hogan Hansen limited, and others appearing on the injury report that were expected to play a factor on Saturday.

On Monday, head coach Sherrone Moore updated the injuries of those who either left the game early or, in the case of Klein, didn’t play.

“Zeke, very mild lower body injury. So we’ll see how he progresses through the week, but he looks good,” Moore said. “And he was jogging around the sideline in the second half, but that was more precautionary to make sure nothing was wrong.

“Gio, we’ll see, look, that’s day to day. So we’ll take a look at that and see how that looks. And what was the last one you asked? Marlin, Marlin’s looking better. So we’ll see what he can do this week. I think he’ll practice a little bit on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we’ll go from there.”

The Wolverines did get to see safety Rod Moore dress for a game for the first time since he took the field in the national championship game. After tearing his ACL in spring ball in 2024, it’s been a long, hard road back to the field, and though he didn’t play in Norman, it was a step in the right direction that he was available to play.

This week, Moore believes, his team captain and standout safety will be able to finally get into the action.

“Yeah, we think there’s a good chance that Rod can play this week,” Moore said. “So we’ve been very cautious with him. No one knows their body like Rod does, and he wanted to play in that game, believe me. And just the timeline of what we said and how we wanted to do it wasn’t where we fit. So, but high probability that Rod Moore plays in the game on Saturday. But we’ll see, we want to make sure the week goes, he feels right. There’s nothing that goes on. There’s no swelling or anything in his knee. And it’s been good this past couple weeks. So we’ll just take it day by day with him.”

Michigan is set to host Central Michigan for Week 3 of the 2025 season. The game will take place at The Big House and will be televised on BTN at noon EDT.
