6 plays that stood out from Bears' big win vs. Steelers in Week 12

The Chicago Bears took down the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-28, on Sunday. It was a big win for Chicago as they moved to 8-3 following their fourth straight victory and eighth in the last nine games.

The Bears haven’t been a playoff team since 2020, and they haven’t had a season like this since 2018. How far can it go? That will all depend on Chicago’s handling of situational football.

In the Bears’ win over the Steelers, there were plenty of notable plays. There were big-time scoring plays, impressive defensive stops, and a couple of unexpected plays that turned drives into points.

With that in mind, there are six plays that had a big impact in Chicago’s win over Pittsburgh:

1. Nahshon Wright’s early INT

The Bears defense got off to a hot start thanks to cornerback Nahshon Wright’s leaping interception of Mason Rudolph on the Steelers second play on offense. It was the first of two takeaways for Chicago’s defense, and it also led to the first points of the day.

2. Caleb Williams’s TD to DJ Moore

After cornerback Nahshon Wright’s early interception, the Bears found the end zone first. Quarterback Caleb Williams found wide receiver DJ Moore for the first of two touchdowns on the day that gave Chicago an early lead.

3. Caleb Williams’ TD to Colston Loveland

After a Caleb Williams misstep, the Steelers found themselves ahead 14-7. The Bears and their offense knew they needed a big response. Eventually, they got it with Williams making a great play to find Colston Loveland for a touchdown, which tried the game late in the second quarter.

4. Caleb Williams’ second TD to DJ Moore

This was a good game for the Caleb Williams to DJ Moore connection. Their second touchdown of the game together came in the middle of the third quarter on a free play, where Williams hit Moore in stride to give Chicago a lead they didn’t relinquish for the duration of the game.

5. Montez Sweat’s strip sack

With the lead, the Bears were trying to preserve the win late in the second half. Without much insurance at the time, this Montez Sweat strip sack made things more difficult for the Steelers during their failed quest to come back and win. This was one of two sacks from Sweat in this game.

6. Kyle Monangai’s TD run

When the Bears got the ball back without allowing the Steelers to answer the second DJ Moore touchdown, Kyle Monangai punched it in for six points, which all but sealed the victory for the Bears. The defense made a couple of nice plays late in the game, but this touchdown was needed as it eventually served as the winning points.
