DOVER − Junior Fair shows and contests are an important part of any county fair and Tuscarawas County Fair is no exception.
Junior Fair members learn life skills, such as decision-making, responsibilty and sportsmanship. The program also provides learning opportunties that go beyond their animals or projects.
The market livestock auction is a way for the community to support and celebrate the achievements of members who sell their projects. And they celebrated in a big way this way, with the auction total topping $1.5 million − the largest amount in at least four years.
The total of the large animals sale this year was $1,575,650. A look at past results shows the 2024 sale totaled $1,269,554, the 2023 brought in $1,367,276, 2020 brought in $1,337,963, and in 2021 sales totaled 1,260,286.

Reserve Champion Bred and Fed: Kynsleigh Billman purchased by MRE Services Inc. for $12 per pound
In all, 94 steers were sold for a collective $718,156
LambsGrand Champion: Jack Hart purchased by Schaeffler for $40 per poundReserve Champion: Madisyn Brandt purchased by Ryan Yoder auctioneer, realtor with Kiko & Kiko Auctioneers, Realtors & Advisors for $21 per pound
In all, 39 lambs were sold for a collective $60,349
HogsGrand Champion: Lillian Sproul purchased by Sarchione Chevrolet for $27 per poundReserve Champion: Kayne Ellwood purchased by Dover Phila Federal Credit Union for $23 per poundIn all, 292 hogs were sold for a collective $794,495
Additionally, the 2025 quilt sold for $1,950 and will be resold at the Dairy Product sale, with proceeds going to the Reb Billman Scholarship Fund.
