A tour bus crashed on the New York State Thruway Friday afternoon. It was traveling east from Niagara Falls to New York City when it went off the road and rolled multiple times near Pembroke, Genesee County.
There were 52 people onboard and a number were killed, injured or trapped, according to a New York State Trooper on the scene.
Victims are being transported to Erie County Medical Center and Strong Memorial Hospital, the trooper said.
Where is Pembroke, NY?
Pembroke is near the border of Erie County and is crossed by several major highways, including Routes 5, 33, 77, and the New York State Thruway.
The town has a population near 4,200.
Pembroke has several hamlets: Corfu, East Pembroke and Indian Falls.
It’s about an hour’s drive west of Rochester.
