Spooky season? More like “Swiftie Season.”
Global superstar Taylor Swift shared more details about her upcoming 12th album on Wednesday while appearing on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast “New Heights.”
The songstress told Travis and co-host, brother Jason Kelce, that the album was inspired by her time on the critically acclaimed “Eras Tour,” which had shows in Tampa and Miami. Kelce said the album features a lot of “bangers,” adding it will make fans want to dance.
“I wanted melodies that were so infectious that you were almost angry at it and lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp and focused and completely intentional and I feel like we actually came together in a really beautiful way,” she said during the podcast. “The three of us, Shellback, Max and I.”
Here’s what to know about “The Life Of A Showgirl” album and a look back at Swift’s connections to Florida.
‘Really Florida’d it up’ Swift, Kelce talk summer in Sunshine State
Before getting into the details about her new album, Swift talked about her summer vacation in Florida with Kelce. She discussed how it was an eventful summer with her parents’ health and Kelce’s training.
“This was our Florida summer, one hell of a drug,” Swift joked, referencing her song. “We really Florida’d it up.”
The pair stayed in a multimillion-dollar mansion in Boca Raton from April to July. They were spotted at various South Florida hotspots, including a Panthers hockey game in June. Swift also visited patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

Who are the producers of ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ album?
The album is produced by Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback, along with Swift. She shared that the album was recorded during her European tour last year.
“I would be playing three shows in a row, I’d have three days off,” she said. “I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and I was pretty exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”
She added that “It felt like catching lightning in a bottle” working with Martin again.

Swift gives update on Floridian father’s health
Taylor gave an update on her dad, Scott Swift, after undergoing a quintuple bypass surgery. Her father lives in a $4 million home in Pinellas County. Back in 2020, it was reported he fought a burglar who broke into the St. Pete penthouse.
“He finds out that he’s got these blockages,” she said. “He was, of course, saying to our family. He was like, ‘You guys are busy. I don’t want you guys to have to come in here.'”
She said he was doing well while recovering from his surgery. She added that he was grateful they caught it in time to get medical treatment.
Flashback to TTPD: What is Taylor Swift’s song ‘Florida!!!’ about?
Floridian Swifties will recall a little over a year ago when Swift revealed the tracklist for her 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” and one of the song names looked familiar.
In “Florida!!!”, Swift teamed up with Florence Welch to offer up a suspense-filled track that highlights the beauty and brutality of the state, with lyrics aimed at escaping, washing away with hurricanes and bodies (metaphorically) sinking away in the swamp.
But what is the song actually about? Well, no one but Swift, her collaborators and closest confidants will know the answer, but that doesn’t stop Swifties from sleuthing.
However, Swift did tell iHeart Radio that after getting inspiration from crime shows, she thought of where she’d go if she needed to reinvent herself.
“I think I was coming up with this idea of ‘what happens when your life doesn’t fit’ or ‘the choices you’ve made catch up with you’ and you’re surrounded by these harsh consequences and judgment,” Swift said. “And circumstances did not lead you to where you thought you’d be.”
There’s also another Florida connection on her album. In “Fortnight,” a collaboration with Post Malone and the lead single on the album about a suburban housewife’s fling with a married man, she sings at the end:
“‘Nother fortnight lost in America; Move to Florida, buy the car you want; But it won’t start up ’til you touch, touch, touch me.”
