The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at Big Boy Restaurant on West Columbia Avenue at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, July 3.
Firefighters arrived to find active fire and heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building, while restaurant staff was evacuating all occupants.
A handline was deployed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading throughout the business. Crews then ventilated the structure to remove smoke.
LifeCare Ambulance responded to the scene. Bedford Township Fire Department assisted with their aerial apparatus.
No injuries were reported. The fire originated in a rear storage area and remains under investigation by the fire marshal, according to a statement form the Battle Creek Fire Department.
The business will be temporarily closed while repairs are completed.
