South Korea parliament approves president's nominee for PM Kim Min-seok

SEOUL (Reuters) -South Korea’s parliament approved on Thursday the nominee for prime minister, Kim Min-seok, a veteran lawmaker and a political ally of President Lee Jae Myung, paving the way for the liberal leader to form a new cabinet after his election win on June 3.

Kim made waves when he predicted in August last year that former President Yoon Suk Yeol may declare martial law, roughly three months before his short-lived decree to impose military rule. Yoon was ousted in April over the move.
