Summerfield High School announces Class of 2025 top scholars

PETERSBURG — Summerfield Schools announces the top Class of 2025 scholars at Summerfield High School.

Although high school graduation ceremonies are still months away, school districts across Monroe County are already preparing for them. Early in second semester, most districts determine the ranking of students according to grade point average.

For years, The Monroe News has showcased the top 10 scholars in each Monroe County school district. We list some of what these honor students have already accomplished as well as their plans for after graduation. The Monroe News’ tradition continues in 2025. Announcements from other Monroe County schools will follow in the coming weeks.

Name: Delilah Baugher

Parents: Jason and Meredith Baugher of Petersburg

Activities and honors: National Honor Society treasurer; Student Council; Student Prevention Leadership Team; Nursing Prep program at LISD Tech Center; Dundee United Methodist Youth Group and Youth Works Mission Service

Future plans: Study at Monroe County Community College and eventually become a nurse practitioner

Name: Tyler Dafoe

Parents: Scott and Kendra Dafoe of Petersburg

More: Summerfield’s Dafoe named to Michigan Sportswriters All-State team

Activities and honors: All-Region football and basketball; football and basketball team captain; National Honor Society; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Academic All-State for football

Future plans: Study business at Lourdes University

Name: Jackson Iott

Parents: Justen and Katie Iott of Petersburg

Activities and honors: National Honor Society; track & field; bowling; Scholar Athlete Award; Certificate of Classroom Excellence in chemistry

Future plans: Attend Owens Community College to become a John Deere technician

Name: Mia Miller

Parents: Josh and Racheal Miller of Petersburg

Activities and honors: National Honor Society president; class vice president; Girls State Award; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; plays four sports: volleyball, basketball, softball and track & field

Future plans: Major in art/communications and minor in marketing at the University of Toledo

Name: Kylee Nevel

Parents: James Jr. and Elizabeth Nevel of Petersburg

Activities and honors: National Honor Society secretary; varsity softball and golf; Academic Excellence Award; Student Prevention Leadership Team

Future plans: Study biochemistry with a pre-med focus at the University of Toledo

Name: Gabe Ostrosky

Parents: Mark and Veronica Ostrosky of Petersburg

Activities and honors: National Honor Society vice president; All-Region football; Academic All-State; varsity golf

Future plans: Study mechanical engineering at the University of Toledo

Name: Zoe Stanger

Activities and honors: Class president; showed steer at the Monroe County Fair through 4-H; Whiteford FFA Star in agribusiness; plays piano for church services at Dundee Community Church of the Nazarene; National Honors Society public relations officer
