Results: Livingston County's favorite festival was a close race between three events

LIVINGSTON COUNTY — There’s nothing quite like a festival or fair to bring together members of the community and visitors for a few days of themed, family fun.

Whether it’s Balloonfest, the Howell Melon Festival, the Fowlerville Family Fair or the Hamburg Family Fun Fest, there are plenty of annual events to enjoy in Livingston County.

But which event are residents most eager to circle on their calendars? It was a close race between three fan-favorites: two in Howell and one in Fowlerville.

In the end, Livingston County’s best-of-the-best is the Howell Melon Festival, which earned more than a quarter (25.86%) of the vote.

The downtown event is organized by Howell Recreation and the Howell Melon Festival Committee each August.

Popular activities include the Melon Ball and the Howell Melon Run. Visitors can enjoy food, arts, crafts and other products from local vendors — in particular, of course, melons (we recommend the melon ice cream).

The event returns Friday-Sunday, Aug. 15-17. Learn more at howellmelonfestival.com.

Coming in a close second, the Fowlerville Family Fair earned 21.84% of the community vote. This year, the fair runs July 21-26. There’ll be a carnival, live entertainment, grandstand events and a youth show.
