It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
This week’s poll features four football players who led their teams to wins during the week of Oct. 5-11.
Voting will be open until noon on Friday, Oct. 17.
Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):
Sam Dykstra, Maple City Glen Lake
Dykstra led the Lakers to their fifth consecutive win of the season following the team’s 49-6 victory over Johannesburg-Lewiston on Friday, Oct. 10. The senior running back rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns.
Amari Eldridge, Warren Cousino
The junior middle linebacker was a force to be reckoned with on defense as Warren Cousino defeated Port Huron 28-18 on Friday. Eldridge recorded 13 tackles and one sack along with one forced fumble and a blocked kick.
Sam Stowe, Norte Dame Prep
The senior quarterback set two school records Friday during the team’s 63-38 victory over Traverse City St. Francis. Stowe set a school record for most yards thrown after he completed 27-of-35 passes for 391 yards. He threw for a school-record six passing touchdowns in a game along with rushing score.
Dominic Taylor, Birmingham Groves
Birmingham Groves Falcons recorded five interceptions in the team’s 29-12 win over Rochester Hills Stoney Creek and Taylor, a defensive end, had two of them. He also was responsible for seven tackles and a blocked field goal.
