The Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners meet in the MLB playoffs for the first time ever.
The 2025 ALDS starts Saturday evening in Seattle with Game 1 of the best-of-five ALDS.

The Tigers will start rookie right-handed Troy Melton (3-2, 2.76 ERA, 16 games, four starts) against Mariners right-hander Geroge Kirby (10-8, 4.21 ERA). Kirby pitched in two playoff games in 2022 with Seattle, tossing eight scoreless innings.
Melton gave up seven home runs in 45⅔ innings in the regular season, and took the loss Wednesday in Game 2 of the wild-card series against Cleveland, allowing four runs, including the go-ahead home run to the Guardians’ Brayan Rocchio, while recording just one out.
Tigers ace Tarik Skubal is set to pitch in Game 2 opposed by Luis Castillo.
