'There Will Be Blood,' 'Scream 7,' more: What's in theaters this week

‘Scream 7’

The Ghostface killer (not to be confused with Ghostface Killah) is back for this seventh installment in the long-running horror franchise, which turns 30 this year. What new tricks does he (or she) have up his (or her) sleeves? (At area theaters)

‘Pillion’

Harry Melling stars as a young man whose life is turned upside down when he enters into a BDSM relationship with a biker (Alexander Skarsgård) in writer-director Harry Lighton’s surprisingly sweet dom-com. (At area theaters)

‘There Will Be Blood’

Paul Thomas Anderson’s magnum opus features a masterclass in acting by Daniel Day Lewis, who won his second Oscar for his portrayal of madman oil baron Daniel Plainview. The Redford Theatre is showing the 2007 film on a 35mm print at 8 p.m. Saturday.

‘Blade’

Blood rave! Wesley Snipes is vampire hunter Blade in this 1998 comic book adaptation that proved to be well ahead of its time in terms of bringing Marvel to life on the big screen. Showing at 8 p.m. Saturday at Detroit’s Senate Theater.

‘The Woman King’

Gina Prince-Bythewood’s 2022 epic starring Viola Davis as a warrior training a new generation of fighters in 1820s West Africa is back on the big screen at AMC Theaters locations.

“Undercard” stars Wanda Sykes as a former boxing champion who works to repair her relationship with her estranged son (at area theaters)… Anderson .Paak writes, directs and stars in “K-Pops!” about a washed-up musician who travels to South Korea and discovers a son he never knew he had (at area theaters)… “The President’s Cake” stars Baneen Ahmad Nayyef as a young girl in 1990s Iraq who must make a birthday cake for Saddam Hussein (at area theaters)… Spike Lee’s 1996 drama “Get on the Bus” follows a group of men on their way to the Million Man March (at AMC Theatres locations)… Forest Whitaker is a modern samurai in Jim Jarmusch’s 1999 cult favorice “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai” (Saturday at the Senate Theater).
