Taking an early look at 2025 schedules for Cheboygan-area high school football teams

CHEBOYGAN – Football season isn’t too far away.  

While we still won’t have competitive game action for about a month, it’s not too early to take an early look at the 2025 schedules for Cheboygan-area football teams.

After nearly earning a winning season last fall, the Cheboygan Chiefs will be hoping to contend for the Northern Michigan Football League Legends Division title. The Chiefs will only have four home games this fall, including their season opener with Sault Ste. Marie on Friday, Aug. 29.  

Meanwhile, four-time defending Ski Valley 8-player champion Inland Lakes hosts M-68 rival Onaway in its opener on Thursday, Aug. 28, while the Pellston Hornets welcome Forest Area on Friday, Aug. 29.  

Here’s an early look at the schedules for each of the Cheboygan area’s four football teams.

Friday, Aug. 29 – Sault Ste. Marie, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Sept. 5 – at Charlevoix, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Sept. 12 – Boyne City, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Sept. 19 – at Elk Rapids, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Sept. 26 – Escanaba, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Oct. 3 – at Grayling, 7 p.m.  

Friday, Oct. 10 – Kingsley, 7 p.m.  

Saturday, Oct. 18 – Fowlerville, 2:30 p.m. (At Central Michigan University)  

Friday, Oct. 24 – at New Lothrop, 7 p.m.
