The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a 19-year-old Newport man was arrested for fleeing and eluding on Tuesday, July 22, after a police chase in Frenchtown Township.
Deputy Jacob Llewellyn attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on North Telegraph Road shortly before 9:20 p.m., however, the car fled at high speed. Llewellyn followed it on to Newport Road, but lost sight of it on Grafton Road.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was damaged when it left the roadway during the pursuit, losing several parts that deputies collected as evidence. Several hours later, deputies found the suspect vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 300 block of Kingsbrook Drive in the Kimberly Estates.
The suspect was arrested and lodged at the Monroe County Jail.
