Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore updated team captain and fullback Max Bredeson’s status on Monday morning in his weekly press conference. But sometimes, Moore gives a little more detail when he appears at night on the Inside Michigan Football radio show, which airs on WCSX on Monday evenings.
Though there wasn’t much of a big change, Moore did inject a little more optimism into the equation, noting that if there was anyone with an injury who could play, it would be the team captain.
“Max is doing good,” Moore told Jon Jansen. “We’ll see. X-ray showed a little bit of an issue in there, but if anybody can play it’s Max Bredeson. So we’ll see how the week goes.”
Ultimately, however, the decision won’t be made by Bredeson, and it won’t fully be made by Moore, either. As he says, the decision will be made by the medical staff once everything is said and done.
“I’ve gotta ask the doctors,” Moore said. “They’ve done it, they’ve seen it all before. So whatever they think’s best, we’re going to go with them and what their opinions are. But Max is going to strongly want to want to play and we’ll just do whatever we think’s best for him.”
What’s interesting is the idea that Bredeson is well enough to still want to play or to theoretically be capable of doing so. If that’s the case, it certainly doesn’t rule him out, unless there’s some gamesmanship going on.
We’ll see if more transpires as Bredeson is scheduled to meet with the media on Tuesday evening.
