Michigan State football has a prime opportunity to turn the season around starting today against UCLA in a Big Ten matchup at Spartan Stadium.
The Spartans (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten) and Bruins (1-4, 1-1 Big Ten) meet Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing for their homecoming game. MSU-UCLA starts at noon, with the TV channel being the Big Ten Network and streaming link on Fubo.
This looked like a game Michigan State would handily win earlier in the season, with UCLA losing its first four games and looking like one of the worst teams in the FBS. But after UCLA’s 42-37 home upset against Penn State, who some college football experts thought was the No. 1 team in the nation before the season started, the Spartans should be on high alert against quarterback Nico Iamaleava.

Anelu Lafaele will miss rest of the season
Michigan State redshirt fresman edge rusher Anelu Lafaele will miss the rest of the season, per our Spartans insider Chris Solari.
Lafaele, a transfer from Wisconsin, has played in all five games so far in 2025 and has recorded seven tackles and two sacks. He posted a picture on Instagram on Friday, Oct. 19, from a hosptial bed with a bandaged left foot and was seen after the Nebraska game on crutches.

The Spartans released an availability report with 12 players ruled out for the game, another four ruled out for the season and zero players listed as questionable.
Malik Spencer named honorary captain
Senior safety Malik Spencer has been named an honorary captain for Michigan State’s upcoming game against UCLA. Spencer has played in all five games for the Spartans so far in 2025, recording 21 tackles and two sacks.

Not having played at Spartan Stadium since a Week 3 win over Youngstown State, Michigan State football is back on the Spartan Walk before today’s game against UCLA.
