Lions roster moves: Davenport and Frazier activated, 2 others signed

Wednesday was a busy one for the Detroit Lions. One day ahead of the Thanksgiving matchup with the visiting Green Bay Packers, the Lions pulled off a series of roster moves.

Two players who have been sidelined with injuries were activated. The Lions brought back DE Marcus Davenport from the injured reserve list and also activated rookie OL Miles Frazier from the PUP list. Davenport hasn’t played since starting the first two games, while Frazier has been out since training camp with a knee injury. Both are ready to play against Green Bay.

Detroit also signed two players from the practice squad to the active roster. Tight end Anthony Firkser and wide receiver Tom Kennedy were added to help mitigate injury losses at their respective positions. Both have been in the league since at least 2019.

The Lions had waived three players earlier in the week to create room. Needing space for a fourth addition, the Lions waived veteran RB Craig Reynolds. The solid Reynolds had been a healthy scratch recently with the emergence of Jacob Saylors as a return specialist option and a healthy Sione Vaki also able to play both RB and special teams.

Finally, the Lions elevated two players from the practice squad to the active roster. Tight end Zach Horton and OL Kingsley Eguakun have been elevated for Week 13. It’s the first NFL active game for Horton, an undrafted rookie from Indiana who showed some potential as an H-Back/fullback in training camp.

And just to make it official, the Lions did reinstate center Frank Ragnow from the reserve/retired list. Ragnow is now on the commissioner’s exempt list, which allows the Lions to have him on the roster without counting against the 53-man limit.

Not listed among the transactions: Josh Paschal. The defensive end had until 4 p.m. to get activated from the PUP list at the end of his 21-day window. The Lions did not activate Paschal, which would indicate the oft-injured DE will be out for the season. Paschal was ruled out from Thursday’s game on the final injury report.
