With his 21-day window to be activated expiring on Tuesday, the Detroit Lions activated linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez from the team’s PUP list. Rodriguez now joins Detroit’s 53-man roster.
It’s a welcomed return to the field for “Rodrigo”, who tore his ACL during Detroit’s Thanksgiving win over the Chicago Bears last November 28th. Along with playing as a reserve linebacker, Rodriguez was a key special teams performer in his first three seasons with the Lions. Those special teams units have not been sharp recently, and a return to form from an experienced asset like Rodriguez can only help.
The Lions utilized the full 21-day window to activate Rodriguez. It comes on a day when the Lions players are off from practice. Rodriguez has been practicing with the team to make sure he’s ready for action.
