For the second time in three weeks, the Detroit Lions have made the opposing team change their defensive coordinator plans.
After Sunday’s overtime loss in Detroit, the New York Giants announced the team has fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. This comes after the Lions gained nearly 500 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown run on the first play of overtime by RB Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Giants are already playing under an interim head coach in Mike Kafka. New York fired head coach Brian Daboll after Week 10 but kept Bowen on board. Now he’s been dismissed as well after two more fourth-quarter collapses.
This comes on the heels of the Washington Commanders demoting their DC, Joe Whitt, after the Lions hung 44 points on his defense in Week 10. Head coach Dan Quinn took over the Washington defense. In New York, OLB coach Charlie Bullen will take over the defense.
