Frozen custard, a cool and creamy cousin of ice cream, will have its day in the spotlight. Friday, Aug. 8, is National Frozen Custard Day. And a few places around metro Detroit are gearing up to celebrate with deals and freebies.
Here are several metro places that specialize in custard and custard shakes:
Ritter’s Frozen Custard
For the first time, Ritter’s Frozen Custard, with stores in several states, including Michigan, is hosting Frozen Custard Week. While it started on Monday, Aug. 4, there still are deals. And the chain wraps up the savings for Friday’s Frozen Custard Day.
Here are the remaining deals at Ritter’s Frozen Custard, which has Michigan stores in Brighton, Livonia and Portage.
Savvy Sliders
Savvy Sliders, a metro Detroit fast food chain, treats guests to one of its hand-spun custard shakes with any $10 purchase. The offer is valid for dine-in, drive-thru or order online at any Savvy Sliders location across the nation.
Savvy Sliders shakes include classic flavors of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. There are specialty shakes, including Cookies n’ Cream, Banana Pudding, and Strawberry Shortcake. A specialty shake flavor through the end of August is Savvy Sliders S’mores Shake. The shake has all the makings of a campfire classic, blending vanilla custard with graham cracker crumbles, chocolate syrup and toasted marshmallow flavor and then topped with whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate, mini marshmallows and graham cracker crumbles.
On national Frozen Custard Day, the free shake offer is available at participating locations nationwide.
Michigan-based Savvy Sliders is known for its menu of beef sliders, hand-breaded chicken fingers, sides and hand-spun custard shakes. For locations, go to savvysliders.com.
BurgerFi
BurgerFi customers have an option for a free shake.
Customers can swap out a standard drink in a combo meal with a shake for free. The deal is valid for dine-in or ordering online at all BurgerFi locations nationwide. BurgerFi’s shakes feature classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, as well as rotating specials like birthday cake.
BurgerFi has locations nationwide and has a metro Detroit location in Northville Township.
