The Detroit Lions will be playing their traditional Thanksgiving game in a traditional look.
The team will take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Nov. 27, at Ford Field with the game kicking off at a new-to-Thanksgiving time of 1 p.m. (Fox), but the kit will be very familiar. As they have done on previous Thanksgivings, the Lions will be wearing throwback uniforms to celebrate the occasion.
The uniforms will consist of grey helmets with no logo, blue jerseys with grey lettering, grey pants and blue socks — a simple design that hearkens back to the successes of the Lions’ pre-merger days.
The team teased the announcement on its social media accounts on Monday, Nov. 24, with the caption “Bringing back the Classics for Thanksgiving.”
The Lions then announced it on Tuesday morning:
The Lions last wore their throwback uniforms for the Thanksgiving game on Nov. 23, 2023, which ended in a 29-22 loss against the Packers. With big playoff stakes ahead of this year’s game, Detroit will be hoping for a more positive result.
