A class featuring seven individuals and a team will be inducted into the Charlotte High School Athletic Hall of Fame in October.

Tom Franz, Tom Sneckenberg, Jim Fletcher, Pam Harvitt, Amber Woods-Bodell, Travis Silvas, Aubrey Parrish and the 1979 girls golf team form this year’s class, which will be formally inducted in a ceremony Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center. The ceremony is open to the public and free to attend.
The hall of fame plaque unveiling will take place at Charlotte High School at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. This year’s class will also be introduced in a pre-game ceremony prior to Charlotte’s homecoming football game against Ionia.
Franz, a 1973 graduate, is being honored for his role as an athlete, coach administrator and athletic coordinator. He coached multiple sports at the high school and middle school levels in addition to being an athletic coordinator at both levels. Franz also was a baseball and basketball standout for the Orioles.
Sneckenberg spent nearly three decades coaching football and track at Charlotte and earned awards for his success in both.
Fletcher was in the class of 1958 and led the Oriole football team to an undefeated season in 1957 and was an all-state selection. He went on to play at Kalamazoo College.
Harvitt, a 1984 graduate, was an all-state track athlete who also played volleyball and basketball. She went on to compete in track and volleyball at Adrian College.
Woods-Bodell was a basketball, track and softball standout before graduating in 1996. She went on to play basketball at Kellogg Community College.
Silvas was a 1996 graduate who was a baseball and basketball standout and was part of district championship teams in both sports as a senior.
Parrish, a 2012 graduate, earned all-state honors in football and baseball and also played basketball for the Orioles. He was part of district championship teams in football and baseball.
The 1979 girls golf team led by coach Gwen Knowlton finished fourth at the state finals.
