Craft, vendor and car show in Clay Township on Aug. 9

Algonac-Clay Historical Society will host the event

When something’s working it’s important to stick with it and this weekend the Algonac-Clay Historical Society (ACHS) will welcome everyone to their annual craft show, something they’ve been doing for more than two decades.

The ACHS will host its annual craft, vendor and classic car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Clay Township Park. The event will also include an ACHS bake sale. The cost of vendors and or farmers market booths is $20; nonprofits can set up booths at no cost.

Blue Water Healthy Living caught up with ACHS President Paula Burgess via email to pose some questions about the upcoming event.

Blue Water Healthy Living: How long has the society been hosting the craft, vendor and classic car show?

Algonac-Clay Historical Society President Paula Burgess: We have been hosting this event for 21 years,

BWHL: How many vendors will be at the event?

Burgess: We will have about 35 Vendors at $20 each.

BWHL: What type of vendors will be there? What’s an example of what they may be selling?

Burgess: Our vendors have many crafted items. Wood crafted, jewelry, candy, flowers, quilting, pottery, glass and more all and it’s all handmade.

BWHL: How many cars will be part of the classic car show?

Vendors will be lined up near the sidewalk area at the Clay Township Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9.

Burgess: We have 35 cars at $10.each.

BWHL: Has the bake sale always been part of the day? Where will the baked goods come from?

Burgess: We have a bake sale baked by our Historical Society members great homemade items.

BWHL: Does this annual society event draw a large crowd?

Burgess: Yes. We have about 200 to 300 visit our event depending on the weather.

BWHL: Any other special events planned during this event?

Burgess: Algonac Women’s Life Chapter 883 will host their 3rd year of the OLD BAG Sale gently used Bags (Purses) and jewelry. All donated by many friends and members, everything goes, a great fundraiser for our needed causes

The bake sale, with homemade treats from members of the Algonac-Clay Historical Society, will also be part of the annual craft show fun.

BWHL: Will there be food vendors at the park for those who want a snack or lunch?

Burgess: There is a concession stand for everyone, and we have a bake sale. All proceeds go to Algonac Clay Historical Society.

BWHL: What will the proceeds from the event be used for by the historical society?

Burgess: For much needed repairs on the community museum.

BWHL: What is the deadline for renting space at the event?

Burgess: Everyone is welcome. To book your spot please call me at 810-794-9641 or paulaburgess@comcast.net I need to know in advance, you can pay when you arrive, no more than 35 so please call and save your spot. Clay Township Park is located at 4710 Pointe Tremble Road.
