Snow began falling across the Upper Peninsula Nov. 26, and is expected to continue into and even through Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27.

Weather officials say the storm will linger over Michigan during the holiday, with the heaviest lake-effect snow expected in the Upper Peninsula, especially the western UP, and along west Michigan. Central-to-eastern areas in Michigan will see lighter accumulations, though travel still could be hazardous.

“Strong winds and heavy snow will be seen for parts of northern MI tonight and Thursday,” the Gaylord National Weather Service office said on X on Nov. 26. “Make sure you check the weather before traveling, as Thanksgiving will not be a good travel day for some areas.”
