Two people have been arraigned in district court in Cadillac as the investigation of a missing 22-year-old pregnant woman from Wexford County, Rebecca Park, continues and a body, not yet confirmed as Park’s, was discovered.
Kimberly Park, Rebecca Park’s sister, according to a Facebook page that seems to be hers, was arraigned with one charge of tampering with evidence in a criminal case, one charge of lying to a peace officer in violation of a crime investigation, and one charge of false report of a felony. Her bond is set to $750,000 cash surety.
Richard Falor, who 9 & 10 News previously identified as Park’s fiancé, was charged with three counts for controlled substance, delivery and manufacturing of methamphetamine and habitual offender fourth offense notice. His bond has been set at $1 million cash.
The 84th District Court livestream was paused during the arraignment to “protect the defendants’ interest in this case” and their right to a fair trial in the wake of publicity surrounding the case, Judge Corey Wiggins said before the livestream paused.
A clerk confirmed the charges for the Free Press but could not confirm any relation to the Rebecca Park case.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, a citizen search party found a body in Manistee National Forest that “resembled” Park, Wexford County Sheriff Trent Taylor said at a news conference livestreamed by Up North Live. Police at the news conference said they cannot confirm the person discovered was Park or release further details until an autopsy is complete.
There has not yet been an autopsy, Michigan State Police Public Information Officer Lt. Ashley Miller told the Free Press on Wednesday, Nov. 26, afternoon.
Park’s sister, mother and fiancé spoke with northern Michigan news stations amid her disappearance.
Falor told 9 & 10 News that Park’s baby was due Nov. 18 and that they’d already gone to the hospital once, thinking she was going into active labor. They learned she was a centimeter dilated.
Park’s phone was found across the street from her mom’s home, Falor also told 9 & 10 News.
Kimberly Park, who 9 & 10 News reported as Rebecca’s half-sister, said she’d been losing sleep over the disappearance, 9 & 10 News reported earlier in the month. She said the two talked multiple times a day.
“I honestly try not to think about what happened. I mean, she’s disappeared before, but someone always knew where she was, and it was usually me hiding her out,” Park said, according to 9 & 10 News.
Falor and Kimberly Park are scheduled for a probable cause hearing in 87th District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 10:30 a.m.
