New Smokey Robinson sexual battery accusations: Hearing set for Jan. 6

Two more people have accused Smokey Robinson of sexual battery and are seeking to join an existing civil lawsuit filed against the Motown star in the spring.

Here’s where things stand.

Described by an attorney as Hispanic women, the housekeepers were identified in the suit only as Jane Does 1, 2, 3 and 4. A judge recently ruled they may maintain that anonymity.

The plaintiffs alleged that Smokey Robinson engaged in repeated acts of sexual harassment and rape during their working hours in his Chatsworth, California, home. They accused Francis Robinson of labor violations, including creating a hostile working environment.

The four housekeepers were said to be employed during various periods from 2006 to 2024.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department launched a criminal investigation following the filing of the civil suit.

In late May, the Robinsons filed a $500 countersuit against the four Jane Does, citing defamation, infliction of emotional distress and financial elder abuse.

In a widely shared YouTube video uploaded in June, Robinson was defended by longtime friend Leon Isaac Kennedy.

The male accuser, who says he was hired in about 2013 as a car valet for the Robinsons, claims that on several occasions Smokey Robinson fondled himself and once attempted to place the man’s hand on his genitals.

The female accuser, described as a former housekeeper, alleges that Robinson attempted to make her touch him multiple times while showering.

“This group of people, who hide behind anonymity, and their attorneys seek global publicity while making the ugliest of false allegations,” Frost said in a statement provided to news media.

A trial date has been set for Oct. 11, 2027.
