World Snake Day | July 16, 2020

Thursday, July 16th marks World Snake Day! Michigan is home to 18 species of snake, but only one, the Massasauga Rattlesnake, is venomous. While several of Michigan’s snake species are threatened or endangered due to habitat loss, snakes all over the world suffer from negative attitudes that often complicate conservation efforts. The best thing to do if you encounter a snake is to leave it alone! The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has more great information about snakes in Michigan!
