The Sanilac County Historical Society celebrates 60 years of preserving county history

Port Sanilac, MI (July 21, 2021) –   For 60 years, the Sanilac County Historical Society has encouraged historical scholarship, preservation, and education.  The Society continually strives to fulfill its mission statement to preserve and promote history in Sanilac County. At the most recent meeting of the Sanilac County Historical Society, board members celebrated the Society’s 60th anniversary with a cake and shared memories.  The charter members of the Historical Society first met in 1961.

Next year, the Historical Society will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the beautiful Loop-Harrison Mansion that houses the Museum.  Bill Gray, Historical Society president, says that plans are in the works for several different celebrations throughout 2022.  He goes on to say, “We will soon be forming a committee to plan these events.  Friends and members can stay up to date on these celebrations by following the ‘Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum’ on Facebook’’.
